About The Position

McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC is actively seeking a Legal Assistant to join our dynamic Labor & Employment practice group and play a key role in delivering exceptional service to our clients. As a Legal Assistant, you’ll provide critical administrative and litigation support to multiple attorneys. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include preparing, proofreading, and processing legal documents such as summons, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, and motions. You will also manage correspondence, organize and maintain case files, assist attorneys with research and gathering records, track deadlines, maintain calendars, attend legal meetings to take notes, handle billing binders, enter daily time for timekeepers, and support other assistants when needed. You will manage projects and balance workloads within your practice group, all while maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to work in-office with minimal travel between locations (as needed).
  • Organized & Self-Motivated: Ability to juggle multiple tasks independently and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn new tools quickly.
  • Professional & Discreet: A strong work ethic and commitment to confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous administrative experience in a legal setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, proofreading, and processing legal documents such as summons, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, and motions.
  • Managing correspondence - mailing, faxing, and coordinating deliveries to clients, witnesses, and court officials.
  • Organizing and maintaining case files, law libraries, and legal documents.
  • Assisting attorneys with research and gathering records (employment, medical, etc.).
  • Tracking deadlines, maintaining calendars, and attending legal meetings to take notes.
  • Handling billing binders, entering daily time for timekeepers, and supporting other assistants when needed.
  • Managing projects and balancing workloads within your practice group - all while maintaining confidentiality.
