About The Position

Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP is currently seeking a highly organized and detail-orientated Legal Assistant to work in the Toronto Office. This position will appeal to candidates who enjoy a busy and challenging position in an office with a great culture. The primary responsibilities of the position are outlined below: You will be focusing on: Prepare, format, revise, proofread, serve and file court documents in accordance with the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure. Prepare and submit expense reports, docket entries, and accounts. Manage and coordinate client meetings, conference calls, hearings, arbitrations, etc. Maintain lawyers’ calendar, including coordinating travel arrangements and tracking deadlines. Provide general administrative assistance, such as responding to client inquiries, receiving incoming mail and maintaining client file lists. Draft and revise correspondence for review. Maintain electronic and physical files, including opening and closing files and keeping files up to date. Perform related duties as assigned and assist others as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Legal Assistant position in Employment and Labour Law.
  • Must be able to prioritize, meet deadlines and adapt to frequently and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft 365 and document management systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Experience with styles and document formatting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
  • Ability to take initiative when appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma from a Legal Assistant, Law Clerk or Paralegal program would be considered an asset.
