This position is On-site. As a Legal Assistant 3, you'll play a key role in guiding individuals through complex court processes, which include providing information on court procedures, starting new cases, and assisting in scheduling court dates. The Clerk of the Superior Court's work provides vital administrative services that support and serve the community through maintaining the records of all cases filed in the Superior Court. We are an essential service helping people navigate through unfamiliar territory during challenging times with knowledge and empathy, creating safe spaces for residents of the county. Success as a Legal Assistant 3 in the Clerk of Superior Court comes from delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, public-facing environment. You will serve as a knowledgeable and professional resource for the public, attorneys, and court staff, providing accurate information, processing complex legal documents, and ensuring each interaction reflects patience, respect, and efficiency. Your work as a Legal Assistant 3 will make a meaningful difference in the community by ensuring the public receives accurate, timely, and compassionate service. Requirements

  • Two or more years of progressive, responsible experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or related legal staff support function.

Nice To Haves

  • Training by an accredited vocational school, college or university in the field of legal support work or related area is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides task supervision over workers in a department section of unit.
  • Makes work assignments, oversees performance of assigned jobs, and provides technical assistance as needed.
  • Provides input to supervisor for employee performance appraisal.
  • Assists in resolving minor work and personnel problems.
  • Assists and advises other employees in an area of specialization.
  • May also assist in on-the-job training of newly assigned or reassigned employees.
  • Performs counter and/or phone work providing information to the public; advising attorneys and other interested parties regarding status of cases and legal procedures while maintaining security and confidentiality.
  • May deal with sensitive and/or potentially volatile situations.
  • Organizes case files in preparation for court trial; prepares new case activity files; encodes or enters into database for court dates and/or attorney of record; maintains statistical records; processes and distributes court case files.
  • Maintains legal files and case controls; extracts information from files, prepares legal forms and papers; prepares and reviews files.
