Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Legal experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • 10 years experience in office environment
  • Certificate in Law or Bachelors in Law (Quebec preferred)
  • Certification/diploma/legal experience in Quebec.
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Technological skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Adobe
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, compliance issues, and internal controls related to manufacturing, especially in the context of IPO preparation.
  • Adhere to safe work practices
  • French/English bilingual (Oral and written English is required to participate in verbal and written communication with colleagues, clients and third parties and to work with documentation provided by third parties)
  • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinker and great problem solver
  • Ability to work unsupervised with a “can-do” attitude and approach

Responsibilities

  • Review, redline & draft agreements: highlight legal risks (ex: NDAs, letters, addendums, sales agreements, terms & conditions)
  • Manage corporate governance in Canada, USA, Germany, France – including updating data room
  • Legal administration: draft and review policies, liaise with third party counsel, perform basic translation
  • Assist general managers and sales personnel in AMER and EMEA with legal questions (eg. contract review or amendments, research); develop legal based solutions to business queries
  • Research AMER and EMEA laws (employment, contract, and laws affecting the construction industry)
  • Draft letters/emails, report and present where required
  • Compliance & Regulatory Monitoring: Ensure the company’s operations comply with international, regional, and local regulations, including environmental, safety, and legal standards.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate legal risk-related information effectively to stakeholders, including the leadership team, board of directors, business partners, colleagues and external partners.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging risks, best practices in legal drafting, research, management; and recommend or implement specific continuous improvements to the company’s approach/strategies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, risk, sustainability internal controls, production, sales, engineering, HR with legal frameworks and documents to support business operations and initiatives; provide training where needed on legal matters for cross functional teams
