About The Position

The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is seeking a motivated Legal Administrative Professional III to join their team. This role involves learning a variety of new skills and working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. The employee will receive training on four different desks with monthly rotations. Key responsibilities include importing new police referrals, processing criminal Superior Court and District Court Fugitive filings, preparing and forwarding arrest warrants, and coordinating daily Rush filings. This position requires excellent organizational skills and knowledge of District and Superior Court policies and procedures. Requirements

  • Skill in maintaining an overview of complex processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of the criminal legal system and general office principles and practices.
  • Ability to orchestrate complex workflows across different units.
  • Ability to execute multiple tasks with competing priorities accurately, prioritizing based on urgency and upcoming deadlines.
  • Ability to use good judgment to recognize issues and take quick and effective actions, pivoting when work demands require.
  • Skills in exercising initiative, following through on work assignments with little direct supervision, and anticipating needs and responding appropriately.
  • Assist DPAs with working in PbK and troubleshooting issues at pre-filing stage.
  • Extensive knowledge of PbK.
  • Proficient in Adobe Pro, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, FORS, JABS, JMS, and KC Script.
  • Ability to work with a variety of file formats.
  • Desire to work in a team environment and contribute to unit discussions.
  • Skills in interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to provide information based on acquired job knowledge.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion involving sensitive matters.

Responsibilities

  • Import case referrals from law enforcement and troubleshoot errors.
  • Use multiple databases to find addresses for mailing notifications.
  • Assign cases for felony review to various units.
  • Maintain a daily log of filed cases and distribute to law enforcement.
  • Confirm custody status and schedule arraignment dates.
  • Prepare and submit Arrest Warrants to the Clerk’s Office.
  • Submit Superior Court cases for Judge’s review.
  • Review filing documents for consistency and technical parameters.
  • Handle case rejections by the Court and prepare extra Motions if necessary.
  • Liaise with law enforcement, DPAs, and Records Units for investigation calendar cases.
  • Ensure rush cases are held or stricken in a timely manner.
  • Notify Records Unit staff on daily filings and releases.
  • Create fugitive charging worksheets and file fugitive cases.
  • Process requests for more information and declines on cases.
  • Run NCIC criminal history requests.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues from weekly PbK lists.
  • Liaise with the Attorney General paralegal to schedule arraignment hearings.
