About The Position

Faculty members at Texas A&M University–Kingsville teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses across multiple sections and formats, maintaining high standards of instructional quality. They contribute to the university’s research mission and also engage in service through departmental participation, student support, and collaboration on curriculum and academic initiatives. Additionally, they fulfill institutional responsibilities such as compliance processes, meetings, and supporting the university’s broader mission of education and community engagement. The position is non-tenure-track. The primary responsibility is teaching. Research is not expected. Service is expected but secondary to teaching.

Requirements

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D./Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
Minimum of three (3) years of successful professional experience in P–12 education or a closely related educational setting.
Demonstrated experience in educational leadership, teaching, administration, or a related field appropriate to the courses assigned.
Experience teaching, training, mentoring, supervising, or facilitating learning for adult learners, educators, or graduate students.
Experience utilizing instructional technology and learning management systems to support teaching and student learning.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
Valid Texas Principal Certificate or eligibility to obtain Texas Principal Certification within a specified period of employment.
Valid Texas educator certification with prior experience in a Texas public school setting.
Knowledge of educational leadership theory, school administration, curriculum and instruction, school law, school finance, human resources, and organizational leadership.
Knowledge of Texas Education Agency (TEA) standards, principal and superintendent certification requirements, and Educator Preparation Program (EPP) expectations.
Knowledge of best practices in adult learning, graduate instruction, and online teaching.
Ability to effectively teach and facilitate learning in face-to-face, online, and hybrid instructional environments.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, faculty, school district personnel, and community partners.
Strong presentation, instructional, and facilitation skills.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
Ability to advise, mentor, and support graduate students through coursework, certification, and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with PK-12 school districts and other educational stakeholders.
Ability to effectively supervise and evaluate field-based experiences, internships, and practicum activities.
Ability to analyze educational data and apply evidence-based practices to support instructional improvement and leadership development.
Working knowledge of learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas), Microsoft Office applications, and instructional technologies.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and university leadership in support of departmental and institutional goals.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing program needs.
Commitment to student success, continuous improvement, and excellence in teaching and service.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.

Nice To Haves

Valid Texas Superintendent Certificate or eligibility to obtain Texas Superintendent Certification within a specified period of employment (preferred if teaching superintendent-level coursework).
School administrator certification
Valid Texas Principal and/or Superintendent certification.
Three to five years of successful PK-12 leadership experience as a principal, central office administrator, or superintendent.
Two or more years of successful college or university teaching experience, preferably in Educational Administration or related graduate programs.
Experience teaching graduate courses in multiple instructional modalities, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face formats.
Experience supervising principal and/or superintendent interns or field-based practicum experiences.
Knowledge of Texas Education Agency (TEA) standards, educator certification requirements, and Educator Preparation Program (EPP) expectations.
Experience developing curriculum and instructional materials aligned with state leadership standards and certification competencies.
Demonstrated ability to recruit, advise, and mentor graduate students.
Experience collaborating with PK-12 school districts to develop partnerships, leadership initiatives, or professional learning opportunities.
Experience using learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard) and educational technology to support instruction.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses as assigned by the department, including face-to-face, hybrid, online, and other instructional modalities as needed.
Deliver high-quality instruction that promotes student engagement, critical thinking, and the application of theory to professional practice.
Develop, revise, and maintain course materials, including syllabi, instructional resources, assignments, assessments, and learning activities that align with university, departmental, and accreditation standards.
Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods and provide timely, meaningful feedback to support student success.
Maintain accurate course records, submit grades in accordance with university deadlines, and comply with all university policies and procedures related to instruction.
Utilize instructional technologies and learning management systems to enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning.
Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment that promotes academic excellence and student success.
Participate in curriculum review and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure courses remain current, relevant, and aligned with program learning outcomes.
Hold regular office hours and provide academic advising, mentoring, and support to students as appropriate.
Participate in departmental, college, and university meetings, committees, and initiatives that support the mission and goals of the university.
Contribute to curriculum review, program assessment, and continuous improvement efforts to maintain academic quality and student success.
Support program accreditation and state accountability requirements through documentation, assessment activities, and compliance with university and accrediting agency standards.
Advise, mentor, and support prospective and current students through academic planning, professional development, and timely degree completion.
Participate in student recruitment, retention, and outreach activities, including collaboration with school districts, educational agencies, and community partners throughout South Texas.
Represent the Educational Administration program and the university through professional service, presentations, community engagement, and participation in regional and statewide educational initiatives.
Foster collaborative partnerships with P–12 schools, education service centers, and other stakeholders to strengthen educator preparation and leadership development.
