About The Position
The Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering is accepting applications for a part-time Lecturer appointment to serve as the instructor for CIVILEN 4320 or 4350 in Spring 2027 semester. CIVILEN 4320 and 4350 are design courses in the civil engineering program that provides students with their initial design experiences in steel and reinforced concrete, respectively. More specifically, CIVILEN 4320 provides students with exposure to the design of steel tensile members, compression members, beams, beam-columns, and bolted and welded connections based on AISC Specifications while CIVILEN 4350 provides students with exposure to the analysis and design of reinforced concrete beams, one-way slabs and columns under flexure, shear and axial loads. Duties include but are not limited to: developing and delivering course materials, holding office hours; grading assignments and submitting grades; may participate in curriculum development and course coordination. Both courses are taught in-person on the University’s main campus in Columbus. CIVILEN 4320 meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:45 – 2:05 pm, whereas CIVILEN 4350 meets Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 – 9:20 am. Both courses meet every week. Selection of the course will be determined based upon the specific qualifications and expertise of the candidate applicant pool. The Ohio State University will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.
Requirements
- MS degree in civil engineering or equivalent
- Professional engineering license
- 5 or more years experience in an engineering setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- A commitment to or demonstrated efforts in teaching that reflect Ohio State’s Shared Values.
