About The Position

The University of Colorado Denver is establishing a pool of part-time lecturers experienced in teaching Geography and Environmental Science courses for the Department of Geography & Environmental Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Applicants join an applicant pool; the posting does not necessarily represent a currently open position. The department will contact candidates if an opening matches their qualifications. Candidates hired from the pool will fill temporary, non-tenure-track appointments and teach no more than two courses (six credits) per semester. Appointments are part-time (less than 50%), made semester by semester according to departmental needs, and subject to budget approval. Lecturers teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Geography (GEOG), Environmental Sciences (ENVS), and/or Geology (GEOL), depending on their qualifications. The position allows for onsite campus work and a hybrid structure, with remote or office work as needed based on the tasks. Office work is encouraged for tasks requiring substantial collaboration. Lecturers attend two meetings per year, once each semester, to provide feedback to the department chair about courses and students and discuss any concerns. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or overtime compensation. Compensation is $1,704 per credit hour for lower-division courses and $1,849 per credit hour for upper-division and graduate courses. The posting also lists a salary range of $5,113–$5,546 for a three-credit course. Final compensation depends on factors including internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. Benefits are described as available to benefits-eligible positions; eligibility details are referenced in the posting.
