About The Position

The University of Colorado Denver is establishing and maintaining a pool of part-time lecturers to teach Geography and Environmental Science courses in the Department of Geography & Environmental Sciences, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Candidates hired from the pool will serve in temporary, non-tenure-track positions and teach no more than two courses (six credits) per semester. Appointments are part-time (less than 50%), made semester by semester according to departmental needs, and subject to budget approval. Lecturers teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Geography (GEOG), Environmental Sciences (ENVS), and/or Geology (GEOL), depending on their qualifications. The position permits onsite work and a hybrid structure, with remote or office work as needed for specific tasks. Employees are encouraged to work from the office when tasks require substantial collaboration. Lecturers attend meetings twice each year, once per semester, to provide feedback to the department chair about courses and students and to discuss concerns. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or overtime compensation. Compensation is $1,704 per credit hour for lower-division courses and $1,849 per credit hour for upper-division and graduate courses. The posting also describes a salary range of $5,113–$5,546 for a three-credit course. Final compensation depends on factors including internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
