The Department of Engineering Education at The Ohio State University is seeking candidates from all engineering backgrounds for a part-time Lecturer appointment teaching first-year engineering courses during the Spring 2027 semester. The appointment is scheduled to begin in January 2027. Courses are taught in person on the university’s main campus in Columbus, Ohio. The first-year Engineering Foundations sequence combines lectures and hands-on lab experiences. Topics include problem solving and the engineering design process, as well as computer tools such as Excel, MATLAB, C/C++ (in the Honors course only), and solid modeling software. In labs, students collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data. Each sequence culminates in a design-build-test project addressing a real-world problem. Teamwork and communication skills are also emphasized. The position includes presenting course material, guiding students through assignments, fostering an engaging and inclusive classroom, collaborating with fellow instructors, and managing a teaching team of graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants. The university will not sponsor work visas for this position.
