About The Position

The Department of Social Work at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for fall 2026 to teach MSW 540 Field Instruction I. The course is a 3-unit class, has one 2-hour class each week of the 15-week semester, and is taught in a hybrid format (half of the courses will be online and the others are in-person at the San Marcos campus). The course is scheduled for Tuesdays 8:30am-10:20am and also involves site visits with student practicum agencies. This is the first course of a foundation two-semester sequence. It involves supervised practice in a social services or related agency developing basic micro, mezzo, and macro skills with an emphasis on culturally informed social work practice. The course includes a field seminar and 16 hours weekly supervised agency field experience.

Requirements

Master of Social Work degree
Five (5) years of post-MSW experience
Five (5) years of applicable post-MSW full-time practice experience working in direct practice social work settings
Experience in supervising MSW students/recent MSW graduates in a social service setting
Working within the State of California

Nice To Haves

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure
A doctoral degree in Social Work or in a closely related field
Experience in teaching university classes
