This 8-month internship (September to April) is for Civil, Geotechnical, Geological, Environmental, and Mining Engineering students at Rio Tinto's Diavik Diamond Mine in the Northwest Territories. It's a Fly In-Fly out rotational role with a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off schedule, including working weekends and holidays, with 12-hour daily shifts. Interns will be flown in/out of the Diavik site from Yellowknife or Edmonton, with accommodation and meals provided in camp. Working with the Project Engineer or Advisor, the Construction Field Technician student will be an integral part of the Diavik Project delivery team, providing survey and quality control functions for reclamation work. Responsibilities include quantity surveys, layout, field supervision of earthworks, materials testing, crush production stockpiling QC, and earthworks construction QC. The role involves coordinating with Construction, Engineering, and Operations personnel, participating in safety and quality control/survey processes, and tracking equipment via PITRAM to promote effective month-end reconciliation.
