About The Position

The Department of Ethnic Studies at California State University Bakersfield accepts applications on an ongoing basis for its pool of part-time lecturers. Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across the campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool are valid for the current academic year only and will close effective May 31, 2027. A new application must be submitted each year for consideration for the following academic year.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Asian American Studies, or related field (for Asian American Studies)
  • Master's degree in Pacific Studies, or related field (for Critical Pacific Islands & Oceania Studies)
  • Master's degree in Chicana/o/x Studies or Latina/o/x Studies, or related field (for Chicana/o/x & Latina/o/x Studies)

Nice To Haves

  • College/university teaching experience
  • Doctorate degree in Asian American Studies, or related field
  • Doctorate degree in Pacific Studies, or related field
  • Doctorate degree in Chicana/o/x Studies or Latina/o/x Studies, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Teach ETHS 1508 (Introduction to Chicana/o/x Studies)
  • Teach ETHS 1308 (Introduction to Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies)
