About The Position

The Department of Ethnic Studies at California State University Bakersfield accepts applications on an ongoing basis for its pool of part-time lecturers. Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across the campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool are valid only for the current academic year and will close effective May 31, 2027. To be considered for the following academic year, a new application must be submitted by June 15, 2027.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Ethnic Studies, or related field (for Ethnic Studies)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Asian American Studies, or related field (for Asian American Studies)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Africana Studies, Black Studies, or related field (for Black Studies)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Pacific Studies, or related field (for Critical Pacific Islands & Oceania Studies)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chicana/o/x Studies or Latina/o/x Studies, or related field (for Chicana/o/x & Latina/o/x Studies)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Native American & Indigenous Studies, or related field (for Native American & Indigenous Studies)
  • Must have US residency and proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Must perform work from within the State of California.
  • Must comply with requirements as a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.
  • Must report information pertaining to discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct or exploitation, dating or domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation.
