About The Position

The Department of Civil Engineering is seeking candidates for its part-time lecturer pool to teach courses in all areas of Civil Engineering, including Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Surveying, Engineering Graphics/CAD, Engineering Statistics, Hydraulics, Water Resources Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Structural Engineering. Duties include instruction, class preparation, grading, and holding office hours. Course assignments are determined by the Department Chair and College Dean. Part-time lecturers hold conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget, with initial appointments typically for one semester, though academic year appointments are possible. Renewals depend on departmental needs, funding, and performance. Hires are made as instructional needs arise due to enrollment fluctuations, faculty assignments, or other factors not covered by existing faculty.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant field; OR Bachelor's degree plus at least five years of teaching or relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent communication skills
