Cal Poly Pomona is one of three polytechnic universities in the 22-campus California State University system, founded in 1938. It offers an integrative experiential learning education, known for its learn-by-doing approach and Teacher Scholar Model, serving nearly 30,000 students with over 1,400 faculty across various degree programs. The university is located on the historic 1,400-acre campus, which was once the winter ranch of W.K. Kellogg. The Civil Engineering Department at Cal Poly Pomona is a leader in polytechnic education and is the largest undergraduate civil engineering program in the United States, graduating approximately 15 percent of California's new civil engineers. It offers a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) with options in General Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering, and Construction Engineering and Management, as well as a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE) with specializations in Construction Engineering and Management, Environmental and Water Resources, Geotechnical, Structural, and Transportation Engineering. The department values faculty dedicated to inspiring students through teaching and research mentorship and is committed to diversity in higher education. The temporary faculty pool for this position is continuously open, with positions filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may be required to start teaching at short notice. The Fall term runs from late August to mid-December, and the Spring term from mid-January to mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during Summer Sessions may also be available. The department is seeking experienced and student-centered individuals to teach in subject areas including Engineering Mechanics, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Geospatial Engineering, Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, and Construction Engineering and Management.
