About The Position

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer pool in Mechanical Engineering for part-time teaching appointments. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available. We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student-centered to teach in the following subject areas: Solid Mechanics and Mechanics of Materials Thermal-Fluids and Energy Systems Circuit Analysis and Mechanical Measurements System Dynamics, Control of Mechanical Systems, Robotics, and Mechatronics Advanced Mechanical Engineering Courses at Graduate Level.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching.
  • Preferred relevant professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned division courses in the department’s curriculum
  • Hold weekly office hours commensurate with the assigned teaching unit load
  • Respond to student inquiries related to course registration, homework assignments, exam preparation, and grading.
  • Teaching assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses.
