About The Position

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Cal State LA is seeking applications for a pool of part-time faculty lecturers for the 2026-2027 academic year. Positions are filled as needed for each academic semester, with conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Hires are made to address instructional needs due to changing enrollment, tenure-track faculty assignments, and other factors. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, but can occasionally be for an academic year, and may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Faculty lecturers may need to be available on very short notice as appointments are often made just prior to the start of the semester.

Requirements

• Appropriate degree from an accredited university (bachelor’s degree and substantial teaching experience for lower division courses; master’s degree for upper division undergraduate courses; doctoral degree or master’s degree and substantial teaching experience for graduate courses)
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at a college level
• Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment
• Demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment
• Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language
