About The Position

The Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies Department in the College of Ethnic Studies at Cal State LA is seeking applications for a pool of part-time faculty lecturers for the 2026-2027 academic year. Positions will be filled as needed each semester, based on enrollment, budget, and instructional needs. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, though academic year appointments may occur. Renewals are based on department needs, funding, and performance. Faculty lecturers may need to be available on short notice.

The department offers an innovative interdisciplinary curriculum covering education, health sciences, history, literature, political science, psychology, and art and culture. The program aims to provide students with a comprehensive educational background for careers in various fields and to foster critical inquiry and lifelong creativity. The department promotes an education that inspires students to understand their place in a complex world and their commitment to a democratic and inclusive global society, emphasizing integrative learning, research excellence, and diverse world perspectives.

Requirements

• Appropriate degree from an accredited university (bachelor’s degree and substantial teaching experience for lower division courses; master’s degree for upper division undergraduate courses; doctoral degree, or master’s degree and substantial teaching experience for graduate courses).
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at a college level.
• Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment.
• Demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.
• Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching.
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.

• Salary schedule information for faculty lecturer: Academic Year-month Classification is available based on the following ranges: (per salary schedule 7/1/2024) Lecturer A/2 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,677; Lecturer B/3 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $6,221 - $13,224; Lecturer C/4 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $6,825 - $14,523; Lecturer D/5 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $8,593 - $15,211.
