About The Position

The Asian and Asian American Studies Department in the College of Ethnic Studies at Cal State LA is seeking applications for a pool of part-time faculty lecturers for the 2026-2027 academic year. Positions will be filled as needed each semester, based on enrollment and budget. Hires are made to fill instructional needs due to changing enrollment patterns, changes in tenure-track faculty assignments, or other factors. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, with potential for renewal based on department needs, funding, and performance. Faculty lecturers may need to be available on short notice.

Requirements

• MA, PhD, or terminal degree in Asian American Studies, Ethnic Studies, or a related field from an accredited university
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at a college level
• Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment
• Demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment
• Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language

Nice To Haves

• At least one semester of teaching experience in Asian American Studies or a closely related field at a two-year or four-year college or university
• Experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment
• Relevant work experience and training
