About The Position

The Philosophy Department in the College of Arts and Letters at Cal State LA is seeking applications for a pool of part-time faculty lecturers for the 2026-2027 academic year. Positions will be filled as needed each semester based on enrollment and budget. These are conditional appointments, typically for one semester but occasionally for the academic year, and may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Faculty lecturers may be required to be available on short notice.

Requirements

  • MA or Ph.D. in Philosophy or related fields
  • Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment
  • Demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • US Equivalency certification for earned/awarded/conferred foreign terminal degrees
  • Background check (including a criminal records check) must be satisfactorily completed
  • Disclosure of any final administrative or judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last seven years (after meeting minimum qualifications and before offer of employment)
  • Sign a release form authorizing the release of information by current and/or former employers concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct (for final stage applicants)
