Lecturer - PH 303: Social, Behavioral, and Community Health (Fall 2026)
About The Position
The Department of Public Health at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PH 303 - Social, Behavioral, and Community Health. This course is a 3-unit course taught over the course of the semester. The course introduces current issues in health from a social science and behavioral perspective. It defines and explores health determinants using an ecological approach, and identifies multilevel influences, risk factors, and health prevention/promotion strategies. PH 303 provides a foundational understanding of public health concepts, tools, approaches and a critical examination of health and disease within populations.
Requirements
- A Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) is required.
- Experience working with college-level students or teaching in an institution of higher learning.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work cooperatively with core faculty and colleagues.
- Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.
Nice To Haves
- A doctoral degree in Public Health or a closely related field (e.g. PhD, MD, DrPH, ScD, JD, etc.).
- Demonstrate intercultural competence.
- Demonstrate a commitment to serving the campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
