About The Position

The University of Louisville School of Music seeks an outstanding candidate to serve as Lecturer in Music Therapy to begin by August 1, 2026. This is a 5-month part-time faculty position that will hold the rank of part-time lecturer. Core duties will include teaching and supervising music therapy practicum courses. Practicum courses provide supervised clinical experiences that allow students to apply music therapy principles and practices in assigned settings. Students participate in weekly clinical placements and engage in the development of professional competencies, including assessment, treatment planning, session leadership, documentation, musical skill application, and clinical decision-making. The practicum instructor provides supervision, meets regularly with students to support professional growth, evaluates student progress, facilitates reflective learning, and ensures the integration of academic knowledge with clinical practice.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in music therapy or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
  • Current certification as a Music Therapist–Board Certified (MT-BC)
  • Clinical experience as a practicing music therapist
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and supervise students
