About The Position

The University of Louisville School of Music seeks an outstanding candidate to serve as Lecturer in Jazz Guitar to begin by August 10, 2026. The successful candidate will hold the rank of Part-Time Lecturer in a 10-month, part-time appointment for the 2026–2027 academic year only. Core duties will include teaching applied jazz guitar, jazz guitar ensemble, and performing with the faculty jazz ensemble. On occasion there may also be opportunities to teach specific repertoire or pedagogy classes. Applied lesson compensation assumes involvement in convocations, area meetings, studio classes, end-of-semester area juries, auditions, and any other matters pertaining to the applied area in question. PTLs will offer instrument specific repertoire or pedagogy classes only when at least one of the enrolled students must take the course to fulfill a degree requirement. This is a non-tenurable appointment and does not include health benefits. Compensation is commensurate with education and experience.

  • Professional level performance ability
  • Successful private teaching experience
  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Music
  • Professional experience
