About The Position

Sonoma State University's Department of Counseling is seeking to establish a pool of candidates for part-time Lecturer positions. The department offers two M.A. degree options: Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. Requirements

• Earned Doctorate in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, or Clinical Psychology from a regionally accredited institution preferred, or a Master's in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, Social Work, or Clinical Psychology, or related field from a regionally accredited institution accepted.
• Eligibility for clinical licensure in California (MFT, PCC, or Licensed Psychologist).
• Clinical/counseling experience with a variety of populations and with different intervention strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level, preferably at the graduate level.
• Experience with courses related to the Clinical Mental Health Counseling MA program, for example: Group Counseling, Substance Abuse & Dependence, Clinical Supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise practicum and traineeship/internship students if considered for these courses.
• Ability to articulate a theoretical orientation about clinical mental health counseling.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse, multicultural populations.
• Ability to handle and approach students with delicate and difficult counseling issues.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate-level courses within the Department of Counseling, such as Group Counseling and Substance Abuse and Dependence.
• Align teaching with the mission and objectives of the Department and the Clinical Mental Health Counseling track.
• Supervise practicum and traineeship/internship students if considered for these courses.

Benefits

• Salary commensurate with degree level and experience.
• Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month.
• The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salary range indicated above is prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
