About The Position

Join the Sydney School of Education and Social Work within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, as a Lecturer (Education Focused) in Health and Physical Education. This role plays a key part in delivering high quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including core units within initial teacher education. The Lecturer (Education) dedicates the majority of their contribution to teaching and teaching-related activities (up to 70%), with up to 20% research and 10% governance, service, and engagement. You will contribute to the education of future educators through innovative curriculum design, inclusive pedagogical practice and scholarship of teaching and learning, with a focus on supporting children and young people with additional learning needs. Working within a highly regarded academic community, you will collaborate with colleagues and external partners to support student success, contribute to educational leadership, and advance the University’s commitment to equity, inclusion and social justice.

Requirements

  • a PhD (or near completion) in the area of Health and Physical Education or a related field
  • recognised expertise in health and physical education and related teaching practice
  • demonstrated record of excellent teaching and educational design in a tertiary environment
  • capability to undertake scholarship of teaching and learning, with evidence of peer reviewed outputs
  • experience designing and delivering digital and blended learning experiences using a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • willingness to undertake Advance HE Associate Fellowship or equivalent
  • a developing network of academic industry and professional partners and stakeholders.

  • Working with Children Check clearance

Responsibilities

  • teach, coordinate and design a broad range of topics in the field of health and physical education
  • participate in the teaching in the Health and Physical Education initial teacher education program
  • contribute to collaborative teaching in the School and work flexibly and collaboratively in a team environment
  • fulfil the necessary administrative and leadership tasks to ensure the smooth running of the Discipline
  • supervise honours and postgraduate research students in your area of expertise.
  • maintain a research profile compatible with the Discipline, School and Faculty research programmes through publication and research grant applications (this may take the form of disciplinary research, or Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, or a mixture of both fields)
  • engage in community outreach activities of the Discipline and the School
  • actively participate in governance and academic community at School and Faculty levels.
