About The Position

The Department of Computer Science at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach CS 310: Social Issues and Professional Practices in Computing Lecture. This course examines the larger societal context of computing to develop an understanding of the relevant social, ethical, legal and professional issues. It covers social context, professional ethics, intellectual property, privacy, professional communication, safety, reliability, and sustainability. The course exposes students to different areas within computer science while developing technology solutions to undesirable effects of computing technology and the internet.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree or 4 years of relevant professional experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
  • Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • A doctorate or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and related fields.
  • Experience teaching similar courses in 4-year universities.
  • Demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
