About The Position

This is a part-time, temporary position for placement on the lecturer candidate pool at Kaua'i Community College. The role is contingent on the availability of funds and actual staffing requirements. The lecturer will be responsible for conducting courses in Business, which may include day, evening, early morning, outreach (such as Early College), and/or distance education classes, on and off-campus. The position requires adherence to community college principles and philosophy, and effective work with a diverse student and community population in accordance with the open-admission concept.

Requirements

  • Master's in Business or Entrepreneurship
  • Master’s in Business Administration
  • Bachelor's in Business Administration and 3 years related work experience in management or business ownership (Experience must be within the last five years).
  • All degrees must be earned from an accredited institution.
  • If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful community college teaching experience.
  • Experience as a Business owner/Manager.
  • Ability to use writing assignments and integrate teaching of appropriate thinking skills into course content as an integral part of students’ classroom learning activities.
  • Evidence a supportive attitude toward student learning and ability to create an inclusive and equitable classroom or work environment for students or associates of diverse multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds.
  • Experience in using online platforms for instructional, communications, and coaching purposes.
  • Experience in teaching distance education.
  • Experience in Business and Contract Law.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct courses in Business under general supervision.
  • Maintain office hours of at least one hour per week for each course taught.
  • Prepare course syllabi and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  • Integrate teaching and assessment efforts with other instructors in the discipline area under supervision of the Business Coordinator and/or Division chairperson.
  • Collect student and peer evaluations and complete regular self-assessments of teaching effectiveness.
  • Complete instructional assignments which may involve day, evening, early morning, outreach (such as Early College), and/or distance education classes.
  • Adhere to community college principles and philosophy.
  • Work effectively with a diverse student and community population in accordance with the Board of Regents Policy 4.207 III.F.1 and college practice of the open-admission concept.
