About The Position

University of Hawai‘i, Kapi‘olani Community College, Social Sciences Department is seeking applications for the Sustainable Science Management lecturer position. This is a lecturer pool position for Fall 2026, subject to funding and staffing requirements. Classes may be offered online, daytime, evenings, and/or weekends.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Sustainability Science Management or Sustainability Science OR Master’s degree in a sustainability-related field AND two (2) years of teaching experience in sustainability at the post-secondary level OR Master’s degree in a sustainability-related field, and 18 graduate-level credits in Sustainability Science Management or Sustainability science or sustainability-focuses coursework
• Related fields include: Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Conservation Biology, Geography (with sustainability emphasis), Public Policy (with environmental/sustainability emphasis), or other interdisciplinary programs where sustainability-related subject matter was a primary focus of the program, as demonstrated by required coursework, program learning outcomes, or degree requirements.

• Familiarity with competency- and outcomes-based instruction

Responsibilities

• Teach Social Sciences courses in Sustainability
• Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress
• Assess student learning in terms of student and program learning outcomes
• Submit self-assessment reports based on student and peer evaluations
• Work under the general supervision of the discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area
• Maintain one office hour per week for each course taught
