About The Position

This is a part-time, temporary lecturer position for the Fall 2026 semester, serving as part of a lecturer candidate pool. The role is non-tenurial and assignments are made as needed, contingent upon funding, satisfactory performance, and actual staffing requirements. The position requires teaching assigned courses in Biology, maintaining office hours, providing instruction to meet student learning objectives, preparing course syllabi and progress reports, and collaborating with other instructors under the supervision of the discipline coordinator or division chairperson. Commitment to community college principles and philosophy is essential. The role may involve teaching evening and weekend classes, on-campus, off-campus at military bases, secondary education sites (high schools), and/or distance learning assignments via the internet. This is not a remote position. Specific teaching fields may have openings only for classes on military bases or online. A Department of Defense security clearance is required for teaching on military bases, and background checks are required for teaching Early College courses for DOE schools.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Marine Biology, Molecular and/or Cell Biology, Zoology, Conservation Biology & Environmental Science, Ecology, Global Environmental Science, Natural Resources and Environmental Management, Biomedical Sciences, or any Life Sciences.
Unless a related field is listed, the degree must be in the subject area.
If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.

Responsibilities

Teach assigned courses in the discipline.
Maintain at least one office hour per week for each class taught.
Provide instruction and guidance to meet student learning objectives.
Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress.
Work under supervision of discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
Student and peer evaluations and self-assessment of teaching effectiveness are required.
Be available for evening and weekend teaching assignments.
Teach on campus, off-campus at military bases, secondary education sites (high schools) and/or distance learning assignments for courses taught via the internet.
