About The Position

The Leasing Agent is responsible for supporting leasing, occupancy, resident communications, and administrative operations at Georgetown Estates, a 132-unit mixed-income apartment community owned by a non-profit affiliate of the Battle Creek Housing Commission. This position serves as a primary customer service contact for prospective and current residents and plays an important role in maintaining occupancy, supporting resident retention, and ensuring an efficient leasing process. Responsibilities include marketing available units, processing applications, supporting income documentation collection, maintaining records, and assisting with day-to-day office operations. This role contributes directly to the stabilization and repositioning of the property in preparation for future redevelopment and disposition.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1–3 years of customer service, leasing, administrative, or related experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in multifamily housing or property management
  • Experience with affordable housing programs (LIHTC, MSHDA, Section 8, or similar)
  • Experience with property management software
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct property tours and respond to leasing inquiries
  • Process rental applications, applicant screenings, lease documentation, move-ins, and lease signings
  • Work with the Property Manager to maintain occupancy goals through leasing, resident retention, and renewal efforts
  • Serve as a professional and courteous point of contact for residents and applicants
  • Respond to resident inquiries, concerns, and office requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Assist residents with forms, documentation, and communication needs while supporting a positive community environment
  • Assist with marketing available units through approved advertising and outreach methods
  • Collect required income and household documentation and assist with certifications for income-restricted units
  • Follow established procedures for affordable housing compliance programs
  • Maintain organized leasing, resident, and operational files
  • Enter and update information in property management systems
  • Prepare notices, correspondence, and standard reports
  • Answer phones, manage office traffic, and support general office operations
  • Support overall property operations as needed
