About The Position

The Leadership Giving Data & Engagement Assistant role will focus on helping organize donor information, new prospects research, preparing lists, donor thank you cards/letters, and supporting basic research and administrative tasks. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a nonprofit environment and learn how fundraising and donor engagement works. This position is made possible largely due to the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) grant, an initiative of the Summer Work Experience program. One of the priporities of the program is to support employers who intend to hire youth in underrepresented groups. Preference for this position will be given to an applicant who self-identifies as being part of an underrepresented group: Indigenous youth, Visible minorities/ racialized youth, Newcomer/refugee youth. To be eligible, a participant must: Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment; Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and; Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

Requirements

  • Recent graduate or current student pursuing a post-secondary program in Business Administration, Funding Management or related field of study.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar tools
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Experience with data entry or administrative tasks
  • Interest in nonprofit work, fundraising, or community engagement
  • Interest in research and analyzing information
  • Familiarity with nonprofit or community-based environments
  • Exposure to fundraising, donor engagement, or event support
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate donor records in Excel and shared systems by entering, reviewing, and cleaning data. Ensure consistency and flag duplicates or outdated information.
  • Support the creation of targeted donor lists by filtering based on campaign needs
  • Update records of donor communications and help monitor stewardship activities to ensure timely follow-ups and engagement.
  • Perform basic online research to identify potential donors and summarize key information such as interests and giving history.
  • Assist with preparing briefing materials and presentation. Also, help coordinate and track post-meeting follow-ups.
  • Help develop agendas, slides, and notes, and support sharing of key updates and action items.
