About The Position

The Leader MP assists the Supervisor in maintaining workflow throughout the Mill Products Division while operating assigned equipment. The role manages and monitors the activities of others under the Supervisor’s direction, supports employee development, and helps maintain production schedules, work quality, safety, and good housekeeping. The Leader MP must also be able to perform all essential duties described in the Multi-Machine Operator I, II, and III job descriptions.

Comply with the policies and procedures in the Company Handbook.
Use production schedules to assist with assigning employees to production equipment and material-handling activities, and help locate and arrange materials for movement.
Train employees, monitor work activities, assist with unusual problems, and take action to meet schedules and maintain work quality standards.
Coordinate scheduled work activities with other Leads and Production department personnel to maintain project workflow.
Respond to emergency situations according to training and policy, including personnel injuries and headcounts during fire and tornado alarms.
Troubleshoot and diagnose unusual equipment, material, and tooling problems, and take corrective action.
Assist with performance-based management tools to improve team members’ performance and development.
Maintain safe work practices and good housekeeping in the department.
Keep the Supervisor informed of unusual problems.
Use the Kanban Card system to request replenishment of supplies as needed.
Follow up with the Maintenance department regarding equipment needing repair.
Perform all essential duties described in the Multi-Machine Operator I, II, and III job descriptions.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as apparent or assigned.
