About The Position

The Personnel Manager at Walmart Canada leads store-level people practices and processes with professionalism, accuracy, and a strong commitment to confidentiality. As a Cultural Champion within the store, this role delivers dedicated people support, provides guidance across a broad range of administrative and compliance functions, and actively supports the implementation and ongoing success of Self-Serve Enablement processes that empower associates and support operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Cultural Champion: Leads and supports store level people celebrations and engagement activities, including WIR events, SIP celebrations, cultural awareness initiatives, holiday events, and charitable activities. Ensures associate communication boards are current and display accurate information on people programs, benefits, and available resources.
  • Support Associate Experience and Engagement: Champions the This Is That Place and Associate Promise initiatives through recognition and engagement activities. Serves as a first point of contact for open door concerns and provides guidance to associates on policies, programs, benefits, and pay.
  • Onboarding, Orientation, and Engagement Activities: Co facilitates new associate orientations and supports Grass Roots and AES activities to ensure associates have opportunities to attend meetings and complete required surveys.
  • Recruitment Planning and Benefits Support: Coordinates recruitment planning for key seasonal periods by monitoring headcount guidelines in partnership with the management team. Communicates benefits re enrolment activities and directs associates to the Walmart Benefits Centre for additional support.
  • Attendance, Payroll, and Associate Support: Ensures associates enroll in Direct Deposit and Paperless Pay during orientation. Supports attendance management by monitoring reports, completing “We Care Calls” for reported absences, and assisting with coverage for critical shifts. Requests Records of Employment (ROEs) for associates on leave or when loss of earnings occurs and assists associates with time clock edits, GTA processes, and self serve tasks as required.
  • Scheduling, Training, and Compliance: Reviews and monitors GTA exception reports to identify attendance and timekeeping issues for management follow up. Prints and posts approved weekly schedules, files completed schedules, and coordinates required training for new associates and associates changing roles. Supports the Store Manager with planning for and enrolling management in required training programs.
  • Team Leadership and Support: Provides training and day to day direction to the Back Up Personnel Associate to support effective people operations.
  • Flexibility (Availability/Work Schedule): Be open to working a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs. Your adaptability helps ensure the store runs smoothly and customers receive consistent, high-quality service.
