About The Position

Flex is seeking a Lead in Columbia, South Carolina, to provide leadership and direction to groups of non-exempt employees. The role reports to the Production Supervisor and supports manufacturing operations, employee performance, production planning, quality, and process improvement.

Requirements

Typically requires an associate’s degree, vocational or technical training, or equivalent experience.
Six years of related experience.
Expertise in manufacturing line skills and the ability to serve as a consultant to other employees.
Broad knowledge of manufacturing line techniques and the ability to improve processes.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to employees and supervisors.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts, including probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and work with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.

Responsibilities

Provide ongoing feedback on individual performance through formal and informal evaluations.
Initiate and participate in process development and cost improvement projects.
Coordinate departmental people-resource requirements.
Assist with department budget planning and manage department expenses.
Communicate the daily plan and production or customer-service issues.
Highlight material shortages and coordinate with Expediter/Purchasing regarding part shortages.
Recognize and monitor bottlenecks.
Report and alert resources about downtime.
Coordinate with Test Support and Maintenance on equipment problems.
Track time for NPI, pre-production, and rework.
Communicate with the opposite shift to ensure information flows between shifts.
Update department communication boards.
Monitor quality indicators and stop and alert when predefined indicators fall below target.
Serve as the primary contact for responding to scrap occurring at any process step.
