About The Position

The Lead Janitor provides daily leadership, coordination, and oversight of custodial staff to ensure high-quality custodial services in compliance with Federal contract requirements. The role supports Didlake’s mission of creating opportunities that enrich the lives of people with disabilities. The Lead Worker directs and supervises custodial employees, plans and assigns work, distributes supplies and equipment, trains staff, and inspects completed work for quality and compliance. The position also performs general custodial duties, fills in for cleaning staff as needed, transports teams and equipment to worksites when required, and completes required documentation and training.

Requirements

Prior supervisory experience in a custodial or maintenance environment.
Ability to lead, motivate, and support employees with disabilities.
Strong sense of responsibility, professionalism, and teamwork.
Valid Real ID for access to the work site.
High school diploma or GED, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from the 12th grade.
One year of recent, relevant experience in commercial custodial or maintenance services.
Valid driver's license and insurability under Didlake's automobile policy; requirements include at least three years of licensed driving and being at least 25 years old.
Ability to pass and maintain a security clearance background check.
Working knowledge of custodial equipment and chemicals, including scrubbers, blowers, vacuums, and EZ-Go equipment.
Ability to read simple instructions, distinguish between words and numbers, and communicate verbally and in writing using simple sentences.
Ability to remind and retrain staff on standard operating procedures and safe equipment use.
Ability to exercise good judgment in daily responsibilities.
Knowledge of general cleaning products and equipment.
High initiative, adaptability, reliability, flexibility, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

Provide direction, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of custodial staff assigned to the contract.
Plan, assign, and direct work in accordance with contract requirements, Didlake policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
Clean hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevator banks, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
Clean floors using brooms, mops, and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
Polish metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
Wash windows, door panels, and sills.
Empty wastebaskets and remove trash.
Replenish bathroom and floor supplies.
Assign tasks, issue supplies and equipment, and inspect completed work for quality and compliance with standards.
Train employees on assigned work and the proper use of equipment, supplies, and safety procedures.
Address employee and customer concerns, resolving issues or referring them to a supervisor as needed.
Model dependability, a strong work ethic, business ethics, and professional appearance.
Foster a positive team environment and support quality performance.
Complete required paperwork and documentation accurately and on time.
Act as a good steward of employer and government resources.
Follow safety standards and guidelines when using equipment and performing job-related activities.
Fill in for general cleaning staff as needed.
Transport teams, supplies, and equipment to worksites as required.
Complete and maintain all required Didlake training.
