About The Position
Modern Animal is building a technology-forward general practice veterinary organization focused on high-quality medicine and supporting practitioners’ work-life boundaries. Lead Veterinarians work in warm, modern clinics with support from a 24/7 virtual care team and an empowered in-clinic team. Structured shifts focus on a single flow—exam, urgent, or procedure—and the organization provides individualized onboarding, mentorship, continuing education support, career growth paths, and an in-house technology platform designed to reduce administrative work. The Lead Veterinarian leads and mentors a team of veterinarians, supports strong medical practice and client experience, and collaborates with the clinic manager on clinic performance. The role also promotes a supportive, blame-free culture and participates in efforts to make veterinary work joyful and sustainable.
Requirements
- Graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary school, or have completed the requirements to practice in the United States.
- Active California license to practice veterinary medicine required at the start of employment; license must be in good standing with no malpractice or disciplinary actions.
- At least 5 years of experience as a veterinarian.
Nice To Haves
- At least 1 year of experience managing and leading teams of veterinarians is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of veterinarians by modeling excellent medical practice.
- Mentor associate doctors to improve individual performance in client satisfaction, teamwork, medical quality, record keeping, and efficiency.
- Empower the care team to deliver an exceptional client experience.
- Collaborate with the clinic manager to improve clinic performance in medical quality, member experience, and employee engagement, while fostering continuous learning and development.
- Embody and encourage a culture of self-compassion and a blame- and judgment-free work environment.
- Lead and participate in initiatives supporting the clinical team’s well-being and helping make veterinary work joyful and sustainable.
