About The Position

Modern Animal is building a technology-forward general practice veterinary organization focused on high-quality care and supporting the needs of veterinary practitioners, pet owners, and animals. Lead Veterinarians model excellent medical practice, lead and mentor veterinary teams, and work with the clinic manager to support clinic performance, team well-being, and a strong client experience. The role promotes continuous learning and a compassionate, blame- and judgment-free culture.

The organization offers modern clinic environments, a 24/7 virtual care team, dedicated in-clinic support, structured single-flow shifts, customizable onboarding, an in-house technology platform, mentorship, continuing education support, and career growth paths. The position is based in Irvine, California. Base salary is listed as $170,000–$200,000, with a possible sign-on bonus and equity grant units, in addition to benefits.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a veterinarian.
• Graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary school or completion of requirements to practice in the United States.
• Active California license to practice veterinary medicine required at the start of employment.
• License must be in good standing, with no malpractice or disciplinary actions.

Nice To Haves

• At least 1 year of experience managing and leading teams of veterinarians is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of veterinarians by modeling excellent medical practice.
• Mentor associate doctors in improving performance related to client satisfaction, teamwork, medical quality, record keeping, and efficiency.
• Empower the care team to deliver an unparalleled client experience.
• Collaborate with the clinic manager to drive clinic performance in medical quality, member experience, and employee engagement, while fostering continuous learning and development.
• Embody and encourage a culture of self-compassion and a blame- and judgment-free work environment.
• Lead and participate in initiatives supporting the clinical team's well-being and making veterinary work joyful and sustainable.
