This position offers the opportunity to apply and expand knowledge of underground transmission line engineering, including routing, duct bank configurations, manhole placement, and electrical principles. The role involves designing complex underground transmission lines for voltages up to 500kV, responsible for cost analyses, development of design criteria, siting and routing in complex environments, and placement of manholes. Responsibilities include physical design such as duct bank layouts, trenchless designs, cable pulling calculations, and development of drawing packages. The engineer will also be responsible for cable selection studies, determining bonding schemes, and performing ampacity calculations. Additionally, the role involves developing riser structure configurations and structural loading, creating specifications for cable procurement, duct bank installation, trenchless installation, and general construction. Collaboration with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components and directing a project team of engineers, designers, and drafters are key aspects of this hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week in the office.
