The role involves the design of complex underground transmission lines for voltages up to 500kV. Responsibilities include cost analyses, development of design criteria, siting and routing in complex environments, and placement of manholes. The engineer will be responsible for the physical design, including duct bank layouts, trenchless designs, cable pulling calculations, and development of drawing packages. This includes cable selection studies, determining bonding schemes, and performing ampacity calculations. The role also involves developing riser structure configurations and structural loading, and creating specifications for cable procurement, duct bank installation, trenchless installation, and general construction. The engineer will work and coordinate with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components and will direct a project team of other engineers, designers, and drafters.
