This position offers the opportunity to apply and expand knowledge of underground transmission line engineering, including routing, duct bank configurations, manhole placement, and electrical principles. The role involves the design of complex underground transmission lines for voltages up to 500kV. Responsibilities include cost analyses, development of design criteria, siting and routing in complex environments, and placement of manholes. The engineer will be responsible for physical design including duct bank layouts, trenchless designs, cable pulling calculations, and development of drawing packages. Additionally, the role involves cable selection studies, determining bonding schemes, performing ampacity calculations, developing riser structure configurations and structural loading, and creating specifications for cable procurement, duct bank installation, trenchless installation, and general construction. The engineer will also work and coordinate with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components and direct a project team of other engineers, designers, and drafters. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two days remote. A generous relocation package is available depending on location.
