About The Position

Chesapeake Montessori, a licensed childcare center, is seeking a Lead Teacher to support the toddler age group. The role involves planning and delivering developmentally appropriate curriculum, caring for children's safety and well-being, maintaining classroom records and a clean, organized environment, and building professional relationships with families. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree, Montessori training, or be in the process of obtaining certification, along with classroom experience. The required schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Compensation is $17–$18 per hour, based on experience and education.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree, Montessori training, or currently pursuing certification.
Classroom experience.
Physical ability to work around small children, including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.

Responsibilities

Prepare developmentally appropriate lesson plans one week in advance using current curriculum guides.
Implement weekly lesson plans and curriculum across all areas of child development, following the classroom schedule and daily routine.
Use the parent communication app efficiently.
Establish professional rapport with each family to provide quality care for children.
Ensure each child's safety and well-being and respond to children's emotional needs.
Maintain an organized, clean, safe, and appropriately decorated classroom.
Maintain an assessment and portfolio for each child.
Conduct biannual parent-teacher conferences in November and May.
Carry out daily classroom responsibilities relating to the care of children.
