About The Position

Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents, located in New Kent, Virginia, provides comprehensive medical, behavioral, rehabilitative, and educational services for children and adolescents ages 2 through 22 who are challenged by co-occurring medical and behavioral diagnoses. Cumberland Hospital is one of the few specialty children’s hospitals providing dual treatment protocols for both medical and mental health issues. Cumberland includes a 62 bed Hospital Program, a 16 bed Inpatient Acute Program, and 30 bed Residential Treatment Program. Our goal is to stabilize medical problems and help children develop positive behavioral coping strategies using an interdisciplinary approach. We are seeking a dedicated Lead Therapist to supervise and coordinate day-to-day activities of the psychotherapists, and psychotherapy services hospital wide. To ensure that therapy services, documentation and assessments are conducted per medical order, policy and in best practice guidelines. To provide clinical services as needed for the department.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree
  • Licensed LCP, LPC or LCSW.
  • Maintain current CPI (bi-annually), CPR (BLS Provider annually) First Aid (two years) Certifications.
  • In order to operate Cumberland’s vehicles, a current Virginia driver’s license with a good driving record (minimum of +1 points) is required.
  • At least five years recent experience with appropriate populations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the functioning of day-to-day activities of psychotherapists.
  • Provides supervision and oversight to psychotherapists as needed and per licensure and state requirements, best practices and hospital policy.
  • Provides individual, family and group therapy– which meets patient and family needs using current clinical, ethical, and community standards.
  • Conducts assessments and evaluations.
  • Participates in hospital-wide performance improvement activities, patient care meetings, behavior committee, subcommittees, marketing activities, and special developmental projects and activities as assigned.
  • Fulfills responsibilities to the hospital in adherence to philosophy and general policy.
  • Establish, manage and monitor safety standards, processes, communications, training and systems for employees.
