The Lead Technology Specialist position offers a compelling opportunity within one of our Individual Insurance agile teams. In this role, you will collaborate closely with key leaders to comprehend business needs and support strategic objectives through technological solutions. This position entails partnering with a cross-functional agile team to develop, test, launch, and refine solutions aimed at optimizing the Individual Insurance servicing experience. The responsibilities include designing, developing, and unit testing code, while delivering on the objectives set by business partners. The Lead Technology Specialist must adhere to best practices and guidelines, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of objectives, requirements, and specifications in collaboration with the delivery team. Requirements

  • 7+ years of IT experience, including 3+ years in a senior technology role with multi-domain expertise.
  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in computer science, computer systems engineering, or software engineering.
  • Multiple advanced technical certifications in technologies mentioned in this job description.
  • Strong experience and understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code applied to DevOps/DevSecOps, cloud security best practices, and well-architected frameworks.
  • At least 7+ years of development experience with React, Angular, .NET, C#, and SQL, including hands-on work with PWAs, APIs, and Azure services (App Services, Durable Functions, Pipelines).
  • Hands-on working knowledge of development tools and frameworks such as PowerShell, NPM, Visual Studio Code, Git, ReactJS (including Vite & Create-React-App), and design library systems.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience working with Azure infrastructure and services.
  • Hands-on experience and proficiency with Microsoft Business Intelligence (BI) technologies.
  • Experience using testing frameworks for both client and server code (e.g., NUnit, Selenium).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of responsive web design (mobile/tablet), object-oriented programming practices, and grid principles.
  • Experience with agile practices, scrum delivery, test automation, and Azure Pipelines.
  • Experience leading other developers on projects, including task and priority setting, and collaborating with business partners.
  • Experience working with Product Owners, stakeholders, and business SMEs to understand business needs and act as a bridge between business and technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing and unit testing code, delivers on objectives established by business partners.
  • Understanding and adhering to best practices and guidelines, and working with a delivery team to ensure understanding of objectives, requirements and specifications.
  • Supporting the implementation of corporate policies, standards, and procedures that provide effective architecture, governance, and management.
  • Performing hands-on configuration and troubleshooting of hardware and/or application software.
  • Providing technical leadership for more junior team members, overseeing solutions to solution implementation to ensure compliance with security, and governance.
  • Supporting IT Management in handling escalations within a team of Technology Specialists.
  • Involving others in planning and executing, and in so doing, gaining their buy-in.
  • Completing work outside of normal business hours to meet project deadlines and support weekend implementations.
  • Participating in rotating on-call shifts.
