About The Position

DS Technologies Inc is looking for a Lead Systems Programmer role for one of our premier clients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, reviewing, and leading the execution of complex upgrades and configuration changes across supported platforms. They will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one or more subsystems, advising on risk mitigation strategies. Additionally, the role involves mentoring junior and mid-level programmers, leading the resolution of high-priority incidents, and collaborating with infrastructure architects to align subsystem configurations with enterprise standards. The position also requires defining and maintaining runbooks, configuration baselines, and audit-ready documentation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 7 years of experience in one or more mainframe support areas (e.g., CICS, DB2, DASD, Network, 3rd party tools, z/OS, etc.).
  • Minimum of 7 years’ mainframe development experience in design, analysis, and coding, working with CICS, JCL, MVS, VSAM, and mainframe change management tools.
  • Proficient in the environment listed above.
  • CICS system programmer, not applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Experience leading complex migrations, implementing automation, and engaging vendors.
  • Cobol CICS, CICS Web Services, CICS Transaction Gateway and/or experience with mainframe MuleSoft API middleware integration.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, review, and lead execution of complex upgrades and configuration changes across supported platforms.
  • Serve as the SME for one or more subsystems and advise on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level programmers, guiding them through tasks and incident response.
  • Lead resolution of high priority incidents and provide post-mortem documentation as requested.
  • Partner with infrastructure architects to align subsystem configurations with enterprise standards.
  • Define and maintain runbooks, configuration baselines, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Install, care & feeding, security, best practices for Mainframe Deposit applications.
  • Work with Cobol CICS, CICS Web Services, CICS Transaction Gateway and/or experience with mainframe MuleSoft API middleware integration.
