About The Position

America’s National Parks is a nonprofit partner of the National Park Service (NPS), operating stores at over 175 national park sites. Our purpose is to educate the public about the history, landscapes, and cultures that have shaped America through the products we make and the experiences we create for our visitors. We also support the parks through our aid to the parks program, having provided more than $180 million in aid to the NPS from our retail sales since 1947. This is a part-time seasonal role at Castle Clinton National Monument in Manhattan, NY, with the season running until the end of the year. The pay starts at $18.50/hour.

Responsibilities

Operate the cash register by processing appropriate tenders and maintaining accurate cash register records
Restock the sales floor while following visual merchandising guidelines and help create visual displays. This includes lifting boxes weighing up to 35 pounds to a shelf height of 5 feet and may require standing for long periods of time to include bending, squatting, and reaching
Assist visitors with product selection and offer complementary products
Navigate complex topics with sensitivity and respect
Maintain prompt and regular attendance
Work as part of a team and interact effectively with others
May open and close the store independently
