About The Position

Lambda is hiring a Lead or Staff Full-Stack Software Engineer to help define and build the next generation of its Cloud Console, where customers discover, provision, and manage infrastructure for AI workloads. The role owns complex, customer-facing initiatives across the frontend, API, and service layers, and helps establish scalable architecture and strong engineering practices. It is a high-impact individual-contributor position that combines product judgment and technical depth, working closely with Product and Design and partnering across the cloud platform. The position requires presence in Lambda’s San Francisco office four days per week; Tuesday is currently the designated work-from-home day. Level and scope will be determined by experience and demonstrated impact. At the Lead level, the engineer typically owns technical delivery of significant, ambiguous product areas, coordinates execution across engineers and partner teams, makes architectural decisions within Console Experience, and mentors through hands-on technical leadership. At the Staff level, the engineer additionally sets technical direction across product areas or teams, leads multi-quarter initiatives with broad impact, aligns teams around shared interfaces and patterns, anticipates systemic risks, influences broader roadmaps, and serves as a trusted technical partner to engineering, product, and design leadership. Success in the first year includes delivering improvements to core customer workflows, establishing technical ownership of important product areas, improving architecture and operating practices, helping partner teams deliver consistent end-to-end experiences, and raising the effectiveness of the Console Experience team through technical leadership and mentoring.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience building and operating production web applications across frontend and backend.
  • Experience leading the design and delivery of substantial customer-facing systems in a fast-moving environment.
  • High proficiency with modern frontend development, including React and TypeScript.
  • Ability to design and reason about APIs, service boundaries, data models, asynchronous workflows, and distributed-system failure modes.
  • Strong product judgment and care for usability, especially when presenting complex technical systems.
  • Ability to bring structure and momentum to ambiguous problems without waiting for every requirement to be defined.
  • Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly through design documents, diagrams, reviews, and direct collaboration.
  • Ability to build alignment across teams without relying on organizational authority.
  • Ability to balance short-term delivery with reliability, maintainability, and long-term architectural health.
  • Ownership of production outcomes, including testing, observability, incident response, and continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to the growth and effectiveness of other engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building a cloud console, infrastructure product, or enterprise SaaS application.
  • Familiarity with GPU infrastructure, Kubernetes, networking, identity and access management, or cloud control planes.
  • Experience evolving a frontend architecture or design system across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate end-to-end product experiences across the React and TypeScript frontend, APIs, and supporting backend services.
  • Own major console initiatives from discovery and technical design through implementation, rollout, measurement, and iteration.
  • Translate complex cloud concepts—including compute lifecycle, networking, identity, governance, support, usage, and billing—into intuitive customer workflows.
  • Partner with Product and Design to clarify requirements, explore tradeoffs, and shape solutions that balance customer value with technical sustainability.
  • Collaborate with API Experience, Billing, Platform, and Support teams to deliver cohesive features spanning multiple systems.
  • Establish architectural patterns that improve frontend performance, reliability, accessibility, observability, and developer velocity.
  • Raise engineering quality through design and code reviews, documentation, testing, and operational ownership.
  • Identify recurring product and codebase friction and lead durable improvements.
  • Mentor engineers and help teammates strengthen product, architecture, and execution skills.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning and technical strategy for the Console Experience team.
  • At Lead level, own technical delivery of significant, ambiguous product areas; coordinate execution across engineers and partner teams; make architectural decisions within the Console Experience domain; and improve team practices through hands-on technical leadership.
  • At Staff level, set technical direction across multiple product areas or teams; lead multi-quarter initiatives with broad impact; align teams around interfaces, patterns, and platform investments; anticipate systemic risks and opportunities; and influence roadmaps beyond the immediate team.
  • Deliver meaningful improvements to core customer workflows, establish technical ownership, improve systems and operating practices, support cohesive partner-team delivery, and strengthen team effectiveness during the first year.

Benefits

  • Generous cash and equity compensation.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage for the employee and dependents.
  • Wellness and commuter stipends for select roles.
  • 401(k) plan with 2% company match for USA employees.
  • Flexible paid time off plan.
