Full-Stack Software Engineer, Experience

Pinecone•New York, NY
•$165,000 - $190,000

About The Position

Pinecone is seeking a product-focused full-stack engineer for its Experience Platform team. The role focuses on creating transparent, accurate, and trustworthy product experiences, including cost metrics, spending alerts, usage dashboards, billing, management, and authentication interfaces. The engineer will own work across APIs, SDKs, and web interfaces, partnering with product, design, finance, and other engineering teams to translate user and business needs into scalable technical solutions. The position calls for autonomy, sound technical judgment, and care in building systems customers rely on, while moving quickly to support Pinecone's growth. The engineer will also use AI-assisted development tools and help establish effective practices for the team.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of software engineering experience.
  • A bias toward automation and leverage, using systems and tooling rather than manual effort where appropriate.
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar as part of the workflow.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver APIs for a rapidly scaling product surface.
  • Proficiency building web interfaces with React or a similar framework.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Strong intuition for making APIs easy for humans and agents to use correctly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a SaaS company with usage-based or consumption pricing models.
  • Experience building billing features such as usage dashboards or cost reporting.
  • Strong familiarity with a compiled language such as Rust, Go, or Java.
  • Experience integrating with third-party financial APIs and defending against inconsistent or delayed data.
  • Experience with queueing and streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub.

Responsibilities

  • Influence product rollouts, propose and build features, and advocate for experiences that build customer confidence.
  • Ship end-to-end experiences across APIs, SDKs, and the web, owning the surface from the HTTP layer through the user interface.
  • Own integrations with billing systems and vendor APIs, designing for outages, schema drift, and inconsistent data.
  • Create observable and auditable systems with monitoring, alerting, and verification mechanisms.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools and help establish team practices that enable a small team to move quickly.
  • Partner with finance, product, and design to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and challenge unsuitable abstractions.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health coverage, including medical, dental, vision, and mental health resources.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • Equity award.
  • Flexible time off.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Work-from-home equipment stipend.
