Full Stack Software Engineer - Developer Experience

Genesys Cloud Services•Indianapolis, IN

About The Position

Genesys is hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer for its Developer Experience team. The role shapes the internal developer experience that Genesys engineering teams use to build, deploy, and operate cloud services. The engineer will improve internal developer tools, including Grand Central and connected development platforms, making workflows more consistent, intuitive, and self-service. The work spans responsive web applications, reusable UI patterns and components, APIs, backend services, CI/CD workflows, observability, and cloud architecture. The engineer will take meaningful ownership of how developers interact with Genesys platforms, investigating problems across systems and influencing technical and user experience decisions. The role works closely with distributed engineering partners in Indianapolis and Budapest, with direct technical mentorship and opportunities to grow experience in AWS, distributed systems, developer platforms, modern web development, and AI-assisted engineering practices. The position focuses on improving reliability, scalability, maintainability, and consistency across a distributed tooling ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant software engineering, full-stack development, or frontend-focused application engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js, including modern ECMAScript capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience building modern single-page applications and a strong understanding of UI and UX engineering principles.
  • Experience with a modern frontend framework such as React, Vue, Angular, or Ember.
  • Practical experience with Amazon Web Services and developing or supporting cloud-based applications in AWS.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, endpoints, HTTP behavior, error handling, and interactions between frontend and backend systems.
  • Understanding of scalability, availability, reliability, and production health in distributed systems.
  • Working knowledge of browser JavaScript APIs, including the DOM, postMessage, and local storage.
  • Experience with JavaScript development tooling and package ecosystems such as npm, Babel, webpack, or Rollup.
  • Proficiency with Git-based version control, collaborative code review, and modern software development workflows.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery practices for cloud-based software.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including investigating unfamiliar systems, reasoning through failures, and pursuing root causes independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across colocated and distributed engineering teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent relevant industry experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building and supporting production React applications.
  • Experience with AWS services such as Amazon S3, CloudFront, Route 53, DynamoDB, and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience developing internal developer platforms, developer portals, engineering productivity tools, or other self-service developer tooling.
  • Experience creating reusable frontend components, component libraries, design systems, or shared UI and interaction patterns.
  • Experience developing or integrating REST APIs using frameworks such as Spring Boot, Flask, or Django.
  • Experience operating production-level single-page applications, including monitoring, troubleshooting, observability, and service health practices.
  • Experience with microservices, distributed systems, and applications that integrate with multiple backend technologies or codebases.
  • Experience using AI-assisted software development tools with disciplined validation, testing, and review of generated code.

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable full-stack applications and internal developer tools that simplify engineering workflows and improve developer self-service.
  • Establish reusable UI components, interaction patterns, terminology, and information models to create a consistent experience across internal platforms.
  • Design responsive, high-quality web experiences using JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and modern frontend technologies, with attention to usability and performance.
  • Improve services and architecture to increase scalability, availability, maintainability, and production reliability across distributed environments.
  • Develop integrations across APIs, endpoints, microservices, and backend systems to create cohesive experiences across independently developed tools.
  • Incorporate testing, metrics, logging, monitoring, and observability into application and microservice design to strengthen production health.
  • Advance software quality through unit and integration testing, code reviews, and validation of human-written and AI-assisted code.
  • Improve continuous delivery practices for AWS-based applications to support efficient, dependable, repeatable production releases.
  • Collaborate with distributed engineering teams to resolve technical dependencies, investigate failures, and develop practical solutions to complex system behavior.
  • Influence technical design decisions by challenging assumptions, identifying root causes, and proposing improvements to the developer experience and platform.
