About The Position

As a Lead Software Engineer in JPMorgan Chase’s Payments Technology Group, you will solve business problems through innovation and engineering practices. You will apply broad software development lifecycle expertise and work closely with stakeholders to align on shared goals in a collaborative environment that encourages experimentation, learning, diversity of thought, and creative solutions for customers globally.

You will lead by example, tackle complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and take ownership of methodical troubleshooting and delivery under pressure. The role involves managing a structured and agile software development lifecycle, mentoring and motivating the team, and coordinating cross-organizational dependencies with technology leads, architects, production management, business analysts, and quality assurance groups.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Core Java, object-oriented programming, RDBMS (Oracle), SQL, Spring, ORM (JPA/Hibernate), and Unix scripts.
• Experience in web development and modern JavaScript frameworks, including JavaScript, HTML 5, Ember, ReactJS, or Angular.
• Experience architecting and building secure, highly available, resilient, and scalable systems using clustering and load balancing of web/app servers and messaging systems such as Kafka or MQ Series.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodology and ceremonies, and experience using SDLC tools to improve development and testing efficiency, including JIRA, Jenkins, GIT, JUnit, Selenium, and Lint.
• Ability to translate functional requirements into technical design and requirements.
• Experience managing a structured and agile software development lifecycle.
• Experience mentoring, training, and motivating a team.
• Ability to partner effectively and plan cross-dependencies across an organization.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of container-based development, orchestration, microservices frameworks, and tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Spring Boot, and Swagger.
• Experience in cloud and container-based development, including Gaia or Kube.
• Experience with NoSQL/Big Data stores such as Cassandra, Elastic Search, Cloudera Stack, or H-Base.
• Experience with streaming/aggregation frameworks such as Storm or Spark.
• Banking and payments domain background.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and manage a high-performance delivery team, providing technical direction and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
• Ensure the team delivers key milestones on time in support of a clear roadmap and requirements.
• Clarify and defend architecture and design decisions, ensuring they are practical and feasible for the team to implement.
• Partner with technology peers and product owners to lead collaborative efforts and achieve successful end-to-end project delivery.
• Perform code reviews and develop and review test scenarios in collaboration with QA.
• Take hands-on responsibility for end-to-end project delivery.
• Manage the software development lifecycle and mentor, train, and motivate the team.
• Plan cross-dependencies across the organization with technology leads, architects, production management, business analysts, and quality assurance groups.
